Matariki Reflections | Hui-tanguru | Nervous System Reset

February sits in a powerful space between cycles.

In the Māori lunar calendar, this time is known as Hui-tanguru. Traditionally, Hui-tanguru was understood as a month of heat, intensity, and heightened emotion. It was a period when communities were encouraged to slow down, conserve energy, and tend carefully to relationships and wellbeing. Long before we had language for stress or burnout, this season recognised the impact of environmental and emotional pressure on the human nervous system.

At the same time, we are moving into the Year of the Horse, a cycle associated with movement, momentum, freedom, and drive. Across many ancient systems, this moment marks a shift from reflection into action, from stillness into motion. When ungrounded, this energy can feel restless or overwhelming. When regulated, it becomes purposeful and life-giving.

This sound journey has been designed to support that transition.

Through sound therapy, we create a space where the body can soften, the nervous system can settle, and clarity can arise without force. Sound works beyond words, helping to release accumulated tension, regulate the stress response, and restore a sense of internal safety.

This experience is particularly supportive for those who:

Feel emotionally or energetically overstimulated

Carry stress through their body

Work in caring or leadership roles

Experience compassion fatigue or nervous system overload

Are seeking alignment rather than acceleration as the year unfolds

The event will include a short teaching on Matariki and Hui-tanguru, gentle reflection, and an immersive sound journey designed to meet the body where it is. There is nothing you need to do, achieve, or fix. You are simply invited to listen.

This is not about pushing forward or setting big goals.
It is about honouring what has been carried, regulating what has been activated, and allowing movement to arise from steadiness rather than urgency.
